Mission
To educate engineers that know, analyze and integrate the different disciplines that conform mechatronics, for spreading and applying scientific and technologic knowledge according the acquiring necessities about the national and international development. Maintaining a high level development teacher staff that function as knowledge facilitators that are linked with the productive and social sectors. At the same time, counting with a flexible academic program focused on the Instituto Polítecnico Nacional model based on learning educational model that allows students construct their own knowledge in an ethic and responsible way.

To be the academic leader unit in mechatronic engineers with personal development, solid knowledge on engineering and advanced technologies; having a creative and innovative ability in engineering problem solving and high ethical commitment towards what our Mexican society and environment need.
Mechatronics Engineering Aim
To educate mechatronic engineers with the necessary competences to solve mechatronic system problems related to the design, construction, maintenance, programming and control, through developing and applying new technology. All these with the required abilities, to build up a life and career plan, having ethics, responsibility and tolerance in both professional and personal scopes.
Occupational Field
The current occupational field of the mechatronic engineer sets in automotive, companies, manufacturing, petrochemical, metal-mechanic, food and electromechanical industries, mainly performing design, manufacturing, as well as programming components and industrial systems also specialized equipment, including also the encouragement and entrepreneurship of professional services companies related.
Undergraduate Student Profile
Students joining UPIITA must have a solid and well integrated formation on Physics, Maths, IT and communication abilities with a satisfactory English language level. In addition, showing teamwork competences and a leadership attitude with an intense commitment to personal growth having ethics, responsibility and tolerance in both personal and professional life.
Graduate Student Profile
The mechatronic engineer is an interdisciplinary professional, competent to design, manufacture and build mechatronic systems and devices, besides to automate industrial processes; capable to speak a foreign language with the abilities of joining and creating teamwork to develop and use new technology. These elements must be enforced with ethics and responsibility in order to solve in an environmentally friendly manner the current society needs.
